Abstract
Objective To study association of the hydrofluoric acid burning patients prognosis with the poisoning severity score (PSS),and to help improve treatment of hydrofluoric acid burns. Methods These articles reported hydrofluoric acid burning cases which came from the databases including Tongfang full-text database,Wanfang digital periodical database,VIP science and technology periodical database and China Biological Medical Journal Full-text Database during January 1st of 2005 and December 31st of 2014.The data were extracted according to the same standard.PSS of each case on admission was scored and applied to evaluate the severity of patients with hydrofluoric acid burn. The PSSs were used to observe and predict their prognosis. Results A total of 40 articles (213 cases) were included in this study. There was a significant positive association between PSS and prognosis (P<0.01).Binary classification Logistic regression analysis showed that the cases with PSS>1 had higher mortality and their prognosis was very bad. Conclusion The PSS on admission can be applied to assess the clinical severity and the prognosis of hydrofluoric acid burns.
