Mental health status of the medical rescuers in China: a meta-analysis of Chinese literatures

Objective To explore the mental health status of Chinese medical rescuers during domestical assignment, in order to provide EBM evidences for psychological interventions. Methods Setting of original documents inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria and retrieval strategy, a systematic literature search was conducted in CQVIP database,Wanfang network database and CNKI network database(1998-2014). Study selection was done by two reviewers independently according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Meta analysis was performed by using Revman 5.0. Results A total of 12 studies containing 705 members were finally included. Within the 9 factors of the SCL-90 scale, somatization factor, anxiety factor and phobia factor were positive items. Among all the studies these three factors show heterogeneity of data (P<0.05). A meta-analysis was done with random effects model. Somatization factor subgroup showed Z=5.92, MD=0.23(95%CI 0.15-0.31,P<0.01); anxiety factor subgroup showed Z=4.26, MD=0.19(95%CI 0.10-0.28,P<0.01); phobia factor subgroup showed Z=4.40, MD=0.19(95%CI 0.11-0.28,P<0.01). Conclusion There were obvious psycho-problems among the medical rescuers during domestical assignment in China. We must do our best to improve their mental health levels through the psychological intervention in the daily work and emergency.
