Abstract
Objective The blood lipid levels of staff in a Department Store of Guangzhou were reported and potential influence factors were analyzed to provide the basis for pertinent health education and promotion in the future. Methods The fasting blood lipid levels of the staff were tested, and the information of gender, age, BMI and behavioral patterns, such as smoking, drinking, and dietary habit were collected. Results The average serum lipid levels of 611 staffs were:TC (5.04 ±0.87) mmol/L, TG(1.36 ±1.25)mmol/L,LDL-C (2.86 ±0.67)mmol/L, HDL-C (1.35 ±0.29) mmol/L. The dyslipidemia prevalence of 611 staffs was 53.4%, and the awareness rate of such dyslipidemia was 2.8%. The statistics showed that male(OR=1.968),more than 39 years' age (OR=1.870), higher BMI (≥ 24.0,OR=2.210), smoking (OR=3.775)were the major risk factors of dyslipidemia (P<0.05). The security personnel had higher TC level, lower HDL-C level, higher dyslipidemia prevalence, higher prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia and hypo high density lipoprotein cholesterolemia, and lower hypercholesteremia prevalence than the shop assistants and administrative staff(P<0.05 or 0.05/3). Conclusion The occupational populations in the department store had a high dyslipidemia prevalence and the awareness rate was extremely low. The pertinent health education and promotion activities should be taken to help these populations.
