Development of a real-time monitoring system for measurement of n-hexane at workplaces

  • Objective To develop a real-time monitoring terminal system for the measurement of n-hexane concentration at workplaces,in order to provide a technical support for the management of occupational hazards in enterprises. Methods By using the sensor network technology,the automatic on-line monitoring of the hexane at workplace was realized. Results The monitoring system mainly included the master control module, n-hexane sensor module and data transfer module. With this system, the n-hexane concentration and the environmental parameters at workplace were detected,then the data were transmitted to the server by wireless network. The system had the characteristics of real-time detection and dynamic observation. Compared with the results derived with the national standard method, the relative error was less than 5%. Conclusion The monitoring system can realize real-time monitoring of the airborne concentration of hexane at workplaces.
