Objective To guide the correct selection of medical personal protective equipment produced in China and/or imported.
Methods The standards for medical personal protective equipment both in China and abroad were retrieved and collected. The key elements of these standards were abstracted and generalized in fixed form, and compared by the method of key performance analysis.
Results The comparison showed that standards for mask in China is relatively complete and there is no technical standards for medical goggles in China. The standard for medical protective clothing lacks a test for microbial penetration, which should be further improved in the future. To select the qualified medical personal protective equipment for prevention and control of COVID-19, the description of parameters of these equipment should be read carefully.
Conclusion To prevent and control COVID-19, the qualified medical personal protective equipment should be used in priority, and if not available, functionally equivalent alternatives could be selected.
