Effects of noise exposure on blood glucose and lipid levels of workers in an automotive lighting company

  • Objective To investigate the impact of productive noise exposure on the health status of workers in an automotive lighting company.
Methods A total of 400 noise-exposed workers in an automotive lighting company from June to December 2018 were selected as study group, and 200 employees without any exposure to occupational hazards in the same company served as the control group. The health examination results, including blood glucose and lipid, were analyzed and compared between these two groups.
Results The 8 h equivalent A-level in 36 noise working posts was 65.4 to 95.8 dB(A), with an average of(81.00 ± 6.86) dB(A). The non-compliance was 13.89%(9/36). The levels of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, blood glucose, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, urea nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid of noise-exposed workers were higher than the workers in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). The abnormal rate of blood glucose, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein of the noise-exposed workers increased significantly(P < 0.05). With the increment of working time, the abnormal rates of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein were significantly increased in the noise-exposed workers(P < 0.05).
Conclusion There are certain adverse effects of noise exposure on workers' blood sugar and lipids in automotive lighting company.
